Associations, Side Effects & Complications

The very first point I want to make is that Baclofen is a really safe drug.
In fact, this point is so important that I'm going to say it again.
Baclofen is a really, really SAFE drug.
However no drug has ever been invented that is absolutely free of any potential risks and side-effects.
The point of this page is most definitely NOT to put you off taking Baclofen or try to talk you out of it in any way. After all, I'm taking it. It's simply to help you make an informed decision about taking it, and to find information if you notice anything different when you are taking it.
My hope with the Baclofen 4 Alcoholism site is that it becomes the first point of call for anybody already taking Baclofen or even thinking about taking Baclofen. And, also the first point of call for anybody caring for us. In my opinion, all these groups are equally important.
Never forget that, as a group, we are taking Baclofen in much higher doses than is usual. We simply MUST pool all of our experiences for those who follow behind us.
Firstly, let's just clarify a couple of terms.
Associations are things that the taker might experience that are really just part and parcel of taking that medicine or having that procedure. They are to be expected to some degree. It doesn't mean everybody is going to experience them or to the same degree, but they are nothing to worry about at all. Often they just fade away with time, even if you continue taking the medicine.
Side Effects and Complications are more significant events, that usually mean that you have suffered an adverse reaction. These are almost always well known to occur. Very few are entirely new. However, they may require further treatment, including stopping the drug entirely.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT !!! Already some of you have reported to me side effects of taking high-dose Baclofen that are NOT in the British National Formulary as being know side effects of the drug. They are highlighted in red in the table. This is vital information for all of us. We cannot know for sure at this stage if these effects are directly related to Baclofen. They may be coincidental. But knowledge is power, and being forewarned is forearmed.
Therefore, should you suffer a significant side effect or complication whilst taking Baclofen, and especially if it one that is not already listed on this page, please report it to us, by clicking this link.
Thank you so much for helping me and us all by reportng your complication(s).
